Gotha G.V Heavy Bomber | 2:1 Scale preview

The Gotha G.V was a prominent twin-engine heavy bomber deployed by the German Imperial Air Service during World War I for strategic bombing campaigns against England. Introduced in 1917 by Gothaer Waggonfabrik, it featured a distinctive pusher configuration and relocated its fuel tanks to the fuselage to prevent the catastrophic post-crash fires that plagued its predecessor, the G.IV. Operated by a crew of three, the biplane was powered by two 260 hp Mercedes D.IVa engines , enabling it to carry up to 1,100 pounds of bombs at a top speed of roughly 87 mph. Initially used for daring daylight raids over London , heavy losses to British air defenses forced the Gotha squadrons to transition into a night-bombing role , where they continued to terrorize civilian and military targets until the end of the war.
