Sopwith Camel | 2:1 Scale preview

The Sopwith Camel was a legendary British single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917 , quickly becoming one of the most successful and iconic aircraft of World War I . Characterized by the distinctive "hump" fairing over its twin synchronized Vickers machine guns, it was the first British fighter designed with factory-standard double forward firepower. While the intense gyroscopic torque of its heavy rotary engine made the aircraft notoriously unstable and lethal to inexperienced student pilots, that same volatility gave seasoned aces unmatched agility in dogfights. By the end of the conflict, the nimble fighter was credited with destroying 1,294 enemy aircraft —more than any other Allied plane in the Great War.
