LuAZ-967 (TPK – Transporter of Front-Line Wounded / “Front-Line Transport Vehicle”) is a light amphibious military vehicle produced in the Soviet Union, originally developed by NAMI in the late 1950s and manufactured by the Lutsk Automobile Plant (LuAZ) from 1961 to 1975 (early series) and in its improved form LuAZ-967M from 1975 until the early 1980s. It was designed primarily for medical evacuation from frontline areas, as well as for transporting ammunition, equipment, and small squads across difficult terrain. History and Development The project began as NAMI-032G and NAMI-049 prototypes, intended to fulfill the Soviet Army’s need for an ultra-light, low-silhouette, air-droppable and amphibious vehicle for paratroopers. Early production batches were built at ZAZ, after which mass production moved to LuAZ. The improved LuAZ-967M received a strengthened hull, updated transmission and improved flotation performance. Design and Features The LuAZ-967 is known for its amphibious capability , full-time 4×4 , extremely low profile, and ability to carry injured soldiers lying down.
